I'm **Miloš**, a father of two beautiful girls.

I have a Ph.D. in telecommunications from CTU in Prague, with a research stint at Concordia University in Montreal — years spent reasoning about routing light through optical networks. My master’s thesis was adding [RFC 3149](https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc3149) support to [Asterisk](https://www.asterisk.org) — hard-core C. The PhD was C++, CPLEX and a lot of Python. Somewhere along the way a few colleagues and I shipped a communication box to the Czech Antarctic station. It was named [Bender](http://access.feld.cvut.cz/view.php?cisloclanku=2012120002). Later same colleagues suggested it would be fun to do a second master’s in business, so I did — three years of learning how to be a decent manager.

These days I mostly route garden sprinklers, though I’m ready for fiber in the family house while still using 60 GHz and copper. During the day I work in software engineering — getting models into production in the leanest way possible while keeping the systems a masterpiece of engineering. By night I do the other crazy stuff: patching compilers, building smart automation around the house, and using AI very heavily. Some of the more interesting things I’ve built I’m not really supposed to talk about, which sounds mysterious and is exactly as fun as it sounds. Including BESS ;-)

I ran Linux as my daily driver from 2002 (I still remember connecting Wi-Fi via `wpa_supplicant.conf`). These days it’s a Mac. I’ve been writing Python since 2007 — and I successfully ignored Python 3 until 2017. A decade of PyCharm left me with muscle memory so deep that I judge every editor by whether `ctrl-d` starts a debug session.

Current obsession: learning Zig. After serious time with Rust and Go I kept hitting things that felt off. Zig just feels right — even if the ecosystem is still very green. I don’t know whether I’ll stick with the language, but the language is making me happy.

Things I believe: 
- **Engineering** is **art**, and everything deserves to be **beautiful** — even the side of the fence nobody sees,
- debuggers beat print statements, and automated testing is non-negotiable,
- muscle memory is sacred,
- the best way to learn a language is to use it daily.
